PALO ALTO, Calif. — For anyone who has dreamed of creating his own glossy color magazine dedicated to a hobby like photography or travel, the high cost and hassle of printing has loomed as a big barrier. Traditional printing companies charge thousands of dollars upfront to fire up a press and produce a few hundred copies of a bound magazine.

Fact is, TV's still the king of all media

Massive new study of how people actually use media

By Kevin Downey
Mar 27, 2009

Great steps have been made in recent years toward improving how media usage is measured, but a massive new study suggests that much of the data media buyers and sellers rely on is still highly flawed or just plain wrong in the case of data based on people's recall of their media usage, as with the diary system still in use in many local markets to track TV watching.

The $3.5 million research project, funded by Nielsen but conducted by Ball State University and Sequent Partners, an independent research firm, found a wide disparity between how people think they used media versus actual usage.

Tweet Twitter Twittest

by Mitch Drew

Over the last couple of days I've decided to really dive into Twitter and find out what all the hype is about. My name on Twitter is mitchdrew (I know..it's original) and although it's not really cool to use your real name and not some cool name, the whole reason for me to be on Twitter is to promote...well....me. So far all of my contact info is around my name. My goal is to use the internet and social networking as a way to shamelessly self promote me and what I do.

My goal for the next couple of weeks is to Twitter my face off and connect with as many people as possible. Using Twitter Grader, I want to move from my current rank of 41/100 and 762,340 out of 1,746,390 users to a rank of 100 out of 100 and at least the top 1000 users.

Stay tuned to this Blog to see how I do!!!

Jaguar Dealer in Boston Mass Says Used Cars Are On The Rise

FastCompany Magazine
Fri Mar 20, 2009 at 6:49 PM

Sales for used Jaguar cars are on the rise on the New England area, and it’s not an uncommon trend.  Thanks to Woburn Jaguar, Massachusetts and New Hampshire residents have the largest selection of used Jaguar X-Type's, S-Type's, XF's, Jaguar XJ's and used Jaguar XK's which make affording a Jaguar, much more affordable.

The tumultuous economic climate may have put a damper on new car sales, but economists and auto dealers like Woburn Jaguar say savvy consumers have turned their attention to buying used, or ‘pre owned’ as the auto industry likes to say.
Consumers are realizing the value and rewarding aspects of owning a pre-owned Jaguar.  Jaguar USA refers to these cars as ‘Select Edition Certified Pre-Owned’.

This is because each car has been hand picked from the most carefully maintained
Jaguars available from model year 2004 through 2008.
Director of ecommerce for Woburn Jaguar, Timothy Martell, remarked on the many reasons consumers are turning to pre-owned, “Used Jaguars are virtually indistinguishable from new in terms of appearance, performance and reliability.  Vehicle warranty and roadside assistance give buyers the same pleasure and confidence as if they were buying new.”

It’s that confidence and pleasure that has New England residents turning to Woburn Jaguar for the ultimate in luxury and affordability.  Even in a recession, luxury car enthusiasts are eyeing their budgets, and Jaguar’s selection of Pre Owned vehicles makes enjoying the Jaguar experience possible.

Woburn Jaguar is committed to delivering the highest quality experience for Jaguar car buyers.  The sales team is comprised of industry professionals who have an extensive background in the Jaguar line of luxury cars.   The dealership also features a service center with Jaguar certified technicians and genuine Jaguar auto parts.

30 SECOND SPOT: DISPATCHES FROM THE WORLD OF MEDIA AND ADVERTISING

5If you're a bank, television ads might be your best bet, according to a new study.
Returns on ad performance were monitored at 32 of the largest 50 U.S. banks, and those with the best numbers were not necessarily the ones spending the most but instead those with the heaviest TV budgets.

That's according to research firm Aite Group, which studied the banks from 2006 to 2008. The lesson is that sheer budget size does not always yield high returns, Aite told Advertising Age. Other media tended to ramp up awareness for the banks but did not result in new deposits or loan activity.

Cars people are still buying

It's not all gloom and doom for automakers. Amid news that auto sales in the U.S. have fallen to their lowest annual rate since December 1981 and lag 39.4 per cent behind year-to-date sales at this point last year, some models are bucking the trend.

Fifteen cars from 10 automakers saw their sales hold steady or increase last month, when compared to year-over-year data from February 2008. Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche were the big movers, each with multiple models that gained ground.
